Cookies Become Monster of Internet


The backlash against Internet cookies is growing says the Wall Street Journal this morning. Tracking tools have become increasingly sophisticated since the courts ruled in the early 2000s that tracking users across websites was legal. The Journal says more cookies that use Adobe’s Flash technology are popping up, which worries privacy experts because they have the ability to “re-spawn themselves.” A lawsuit recently filed in the California court system alleges that Fox and the American Idol website have used Flash cookies to mine data about visitors to their site.
